Brief

'Brand storytelling and animation in a fun and interesting way'

Our client wanted to reach a wider audience and represent their amazing products in a ‘fun and interesting’ way.

Our initial analysis focused on the fact that it is not just a product that Jelly Bean was selling, it was the service and feelings that came with the product. A cake is often at the center of a life event – milestone birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and celebrations. They are ordered by people who want to excite, surprise and treat people they love. These are greeted with joy and remembered with fondness both in the mind and on social media accounts. There is something magical about revealing a bespoke cake to children and grown-ups alike.

For this reason, we built the animation around a rhyming fairytale, written by Tim our resident author and copywriter.  It tells the tale of the Jill, the bakery owner, who creates cakes with love and a sprinkle of magic. The underlying message is that Jelly Bean Bakery can create any cake you wish for and make dreams come true.

In the creation of the animation we deliberately chose a colour palette to fit with the existing branding and logo.  Delicate pastel washes fit with a subtle fairy tale scheme. The soundtrack was selected to support the story, as it begins slowly and playfully to support the thought and creation process; then gradually builds to a faster, more enthusiastic beat to give the sense of excitement and wonder as the cakes are revealed.

Aimee at Flat Cap Design recently made me a fantastic animation for my Bakery business. It’s that fantastic a whopping 13,000 people saw it on Facebook as it was shared so many times! Aimee was professional from the beginning, listened to everything I needed the design to be and came up with a fantastic concept! She’s amazing at what she does and I’ll be recommending her to everyone. I won’t hesitate to use Flat Cap Design again! 5 stars from me

The animation underpinned the most successful advertising campaign in Jelly Bean Bakery’s history.  It received over 13,000 views in two weeks on Facebook alone. It also saw a significant boost in enquires and orders and they all lived happily ever after…  Some might say a fairytale ending
